PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Maker Space Director is responsible for the operation, scheduling, sustainability and outreach of the Kentucky Movers and Makers facility. The Director will further collaborate and be accountable to the overall economic development strategy of the corporation. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training, Abilities and Experience:
Teaching experience in an industrial curriculum environment; helpful.
Experience in operating and /or teaching the proper operation of metalworking, woodworking, 3D printing and plasma cutting machines.
Supervisory or oversight experience with people of varying ages and skill levels.
Ability to develop, implement and enforce safety policies and procedures.
Working knowledge or ability to learn various software programs for business operations, design and/or manufacturing.
Possess planning, management, relationship and communications skills with the ability to utilize these skills in a caring and supportive manner.
Flexibility and availability to work evening and weekend hours if required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, schedule and recruit instructors for classes in the proper use of various industrial and craft machines.
Identify, procure using predetermined criteria, install and maintain various pieces of equipment.
Ensure proper scheduling processes are in operation.
Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures.
Interface and outreach to various groups and individuals to gain members for the maker space.
Help fundraise for sustainability.
Overall management responsibility for the maker space including budgetary compliance.
Other duties and Responsibilities:
Attend and participate in EDC functions as required, including Innovate + Caffeinate, etc.
Represent EDC and the Kentucky Movers and Makers brand in a professional and exemplary manner.
